I wanted to prove that Big B is not old: Puri Interview

Mumbai: Tollywood director Puri Jagannath, who is returning to Hindi films after seven years with "Bbuddah...Hoga Tera Baap" in which Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan plays a bold and flamboyant role, says he made the movie to tell the people that the 68-year-old actor is still young.

"I'm a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan since childhood and I used to watch all his movies. But then came a time, when he started doing films that I didn't like him in," Jagannath told IANS in an interview.

"After 'Mard' I didn't see his films till he did 'Sarkar' and that was perfect for him," he said.

"I wanted to make a film just for him and make it in a way that I can tell people that he is not old. He still has that fire, he still has that charisma. Hence was born the idea of this film," he added.

In "Bbuddah...Hoga Tera Baap", Bachchan is seen as an angry man who wears bright, bold, over-the-top clothes and hates it when someone calls him old. The films also stars Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon, Sonu Sood and Sonal Chauhan and is slated for release Friday.

The 44-year-old director, who had a grim beginning at the Bollywood box office in 2004 when he made "Shart", is confident about success this time and believes that people will like Big B in the new image.

"I have been confident about this character from the very beginning. Bachchan is very good with every emotion, whether its's drama or comedy, and he is truly an entertainer. So I'm sure people will like him in this image as well," Jagannath said.

The Telugu director, who has made successful films like "Badri", "Pokiri", "Chiruta" and "Neninthe", among others, said working with Bachchan was one of the best experiences he has ever had.

"It was a wonderful experience working with Bachchan. He is a very cool and calm person and very co-operative. I learnt a lot from him," he said.

"Sometimes he even used to give his opinion. He is very committed and focused. He will practice the scene at home, will tell me how he will do it and if I make some last-minute changes, he would incorporate them," he said.

"He used to always be fully prepared. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him," he added.

After "Bbuddah... Hoga Tera Baap", Jagannath is looking at making a stronger presence in Bollywood and planning to start working on three Hindi films next year.

"I want to do more Hindi films now. I have three scripts. I want to start working on them next year. However, the cast and other things are not confirmed as of now," he revealed. (IANS)

They added “Many times, diplomatic statements are given in front of the media to maintain cover and things are settled internally. But Chiru went ahead with his own style and has given feelers to media circles.” Let us see what will come next from the mega camp.

I will not act in films: Megastar

Chiranjeevi is the Megastar of Tollywood. He has acted more than 150 films in languages like Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. After being a Successful Actor, he wanted to join Politics and started the Praja Rajyam Party in the year 2008. In 2009 Elections, he won 18 MLA seats. On 6th February 2011, he merged his Party with the Congress. Chiranjeevi participated in a Private Television Channel Program and spoke with the Media and revealed some shocking news. "I was angry" says Hot Beauty

Sizzling beauty Katrina Kaif has done few daredevil stunts for her upcoming film 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'. The role she played in the film demanded the actress to do both dirt biking and deep sea diving, which were so stressful. "Both, dirt biking and deep sea diving were more traumatic than I had initially anticipated. I had the basic understanding of smaller bikes, but I had to practice with a bigger and heavier one for the movie. I refused to understand that you've to let the bike fall, as I was being stubborn and trying to prevent it from going down. So I got hurt once or twice. As for diving, I had learnt it in a pool, but had to shoot the scenes in seas with choppy waters. It was so stressful that at the end of the four-day shoot in the waters, I had lost three and half kilos," said Katrina. Katrina had close encounters with the sharks while shooting in the sea. "Well, I was told about the sharks later, after we had finished the shoot. I was angry at not being informed earlier, but I was explained that the knowledge could have caused me to panic and hamper my performance. Of course, if I had known about the sharks, I wouldn't have ventured into the waters. About a month later, I heard the place was shut due to sharks," said the actress. Hope Katrina's hard work will pay off!

Hero sold his house for Rs 7.5 crore

Rajinikanth's son-in-law and Tamil star Dhanush is on a house hunt now. The actor took some time from his busy schedule to fulfill his dream of having a house of his own in Adyar. Bollywood latest sensation Sonakshi Sinha opted out of Kamal Hassan's bilingual film 'Vishwaroopam', citing dates problem. She was to play Kamal's wife in the film. Strict Instructions Between Chiru And Ramcharan

A close relative of the family revealed “Both Chiru and Charan can take care of things on their own, but now that Chiranjeevi has given a statement on record, he should stick to politics and not refrain from his decision or else his credibility will be at stake. As for Charan, he should stick to films only and not mention about politics. His responsibility has become double.”

Junior NTR's Goal Is 2019

In sharp contrast to Chiranjeevi’s public display of chief ministerial ambition, Junior NTR is silently working towards his goal of taking over the reins of Telugu Desam Party from his uncle N Chandrababu Naidu.

Slowly but surely, Junior NTR wants to achieve his goal by 2019.

Without making it very obvious, he has been discreetly making the moves to create a situation where pressure will mount from the cadre for a change of guard. A perception is being created in the party that somebody from NTR’s family should take over the party to arrest its slide.

According to sources, Junior NTR, who has earned a good reputation for his oratory skills and mass appeal, has been confiding in his close friends that he would enter active politics after a couple of years. At present, he is focusing on his film career.

Junior NTR is of the view that 2014 may still not be favourable to TDP but in the years ahead there is a bright prospect for the party’s revival. He also does not foresee any competition from Naidu’s industrialist-son Nara Lokesh for taking control of the party.

Already, there are indications of a simmering succession battle in the first family of the regional party. The rift came out in the open during the recent “Mahanadu” when Junior NTR’s father and party MP N Harikrishna walked out of the meeting in a huff, peeved over the importance being given to Lokesh.

'180' Producers To Sue Siddarth

Why is Ram Charan Teja jealous of Abhishek?

Rama Charan Teja is disappointed that his father and Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi has shelved his plan to return to films.

The actor said he was jealous of Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan. 

"I dreamt of doing a song like Kajra Re with dad . I really envy Abhishek Bachchan to have acted with his dad in so many movies." Ram Charan Teja wrote on Twitter.

The actor-turned-politician was supposed to make a comeback in a film which was to be produced by Teja. Chiranjeevi had announced in December 2010 that he would don the grease paint once again for his 150th film.  But that project did not take off because of political developments in the state as well as his Praja Rajyam Party's merger with the Congress.

RR Movie Makers- A Dream Banner For Full Money

If commitments, especially financial, are fulfilled on time, then there is no doubt that the organization or the industry will prosper quickly. This seems to be the sutra followed by the noted banner R R Movie Makers and today they have become the favoured destination for many cine folks.

Meanwhile, there is a talk that R R Movie Makers is making an international film with S V Krishna Reddy as the director with a whopping budget of Rs 150 crores. However, many are doubtful on this news.

They say “R R Movies has that capacity to invest but SVK….does he have that capacity to direct such a big budget film? The film is titled ‘Divorce Invitation’. This looks like the English version of the Telugu film ‘Aahvaanam’. As such, Atchi Reddy has close links with the banner and SVK is close to Atchi Reddy so anything can happen. This is cinema field and it is full of wonders all the time.”

Fate Of Tollywood July 1st

July 1st is going to be a crucial day for Tollywood. Well, it is not a doomsday but then many are waiting to see the fate of films that are hitting the screens on this day for various reasons. Notable among the films are ‘Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap’ and ‘Virodhi’ which seem to have a keen contest.

On the Mumbai front, there is ‘Bbuddah…Hoga Tera Baap’ which has created enough expectations. But since this is Puri Jagannadh’s directorial venture having the likes of Charmee, Subbaraju, many Tollywood audiences are keen to watch it. So, will they vote for this Bollywood venture, remains to be seen.

While the ‘Bbuddah…’ wave is on, another film which is making news is ‘Delhi Belly’ and this is the production venture of superstar Aamir Khan. The film is slated to be rather bold.

On the Hyderabad front, there is ‘Virodhi’ and ‘Brahmigadi Katha’. While doubts are already flashing for the latter, ‘Virodhi’ is a hot favourite as the trailers are impressive. Expectations are high due to director Neelakantha’s taking, the subject he chose for the film etc. Well…the fate will be out in another 24 hours.

Trisha's heart beats for him

Hot beauty Trisha revealed that she had agreed to star in the Tamil film 'Mankatha', only because Ajith is playing the lead in the film. "I agreed to star in Mankatha despite being offered a small role is only because the film had Ajith playing the lead," said Trisha. The actress, who is a hardcore fan of Ajith's biriyani, says she always loved working with the star. "Working with Ajith is always a blast. I freaked out on his biriyanis. He is a wonderful cook and his wife Shalini is lucky to have him as her husband. I will surely miss him once shoot gets done," she said. Recently, the director of 'Mankatha' planned a lip-lock scene with Ajith and Trisha for the film. Trisha immediately agreed to do it, without charging a single penny extra. The reason for it is again the chance to share lip-lock with Ajith. Generally, Trisha demands extra remuneration for lip-locks and excessive skin show. Here, she gave an exception to Ajith. But, the actress was shocked when Ajith took a back step by saying he can’t do this particular scene as his film will be watched by his family and his daughter. Young Hero Karthi, the most eligible bachelor in Kollywood, is all set to tie the knot on July 3, 2011. The dashing actor, who preferred an arrange marriage, said that he is happy to get married to Ranjani, a gold medallist in MA (English Literature) from leading Chennai college Stella Maris. While Karthi's brother Surya married his long-time girlfriend, actor Jyotika, the 'Awara' star has been clear that he'd only opt for a woman chosen by his parents. Karthi says life has changed post engagement. "Life has changed post my engagement. These days I am constantly on the phone. Ranjani and I speak for hours together. Our conversations are endless," says Karthi. Though, the actor made secret plans for a honeymoon and will be flying off to an exotic resort and spa abroad, he was tight-lipped about the location. "I won't tell you about the location. If the name of the place where I am off to for my honeymoon got published, then I would be surrounded by my fans. Past experience has taught me a lesson," says the acor. Karthi has already made plans to throw a grand party for his friends and film personalities in Chennai on July 7.

Ram Charan couldn't digest the fact that his father and matinee idol Chiranjeevi has said goodbye to the acting career. The young hero says he has dreamt of shaking a leg with his dad, alike Abhishek-Amitabh's 'Kajra Re' song. However, Chiru's coterie has defended it by saying their leader has made that comments taking future prospects into consideration. "Chiru was assured by Congress High Command that he would lead the Congress campaign in the 2014 elections," said a source close to the star politician. Hope Chiru reconsiders his decision of quitting films to fulfill his son's dream and also fulfills his very own dream to become CM.

Sexy babe Kajal Agarwal landed in all sorts of troubles with the media reports, which quoted the actress as saying 'she is not a South Indian actress'. The actress said that she has no idea from where all these rumours started and was upset on hearing that South Indian film fraternity wanted to ban her. "I will never be disrespectful to the Telugu and Tamil film industry. I have been brought up to respect my roots. And my roots are in Tollywood and Kollywood. What Is This 'Wonder Boy' Torture?

As it is, the Telugu audience is getting miffed with the kind of films which are coming from the big league and established houses. While they are hoping for a change, whatever little patience is left in them is being slammed by few other film makers who come up with head scratching projects.

One such project making talks in the film nagar area is ‘Vanakanya Wonder Boys’. The reason this project got attention is due to the presence of Aarthi Agarwal in the lead along with a obese boy as the hero. This is being directed by Siva Nagu while Jaladi Sivasankar Chowdary is the producer.

The film nagar folks are saying “What is this Wonder Boy torture? Already, we have seen enough torture from Aarthi through her recent films and by teaming up with a kid, she is giving another variety torture.” Few admirers of Aarthi are feeling sad for another reason. RGV's Satire Tweets On Chiranjeevi

Whenever a statement is given by the movie maker Ramgopal Varma two things happen- confusion or controversy. And the best place to see what turmoil is being created is the twitter profile of Ramu wherein he keeps throwing few random thoughts out of his several mind flashes.

This time, he seems to have set his focus on megastar Chiranjeevi. Well, the tweet reads- "Chiranjeevi is a phenomenon and the people of Andhra Pradesh are not and they proved that by not making him a chief minister. But I anyday want to see the people of AP queuing up for Chiranjeevi’s tickets rather than Chiranjeevi queuing up for the fuckers votes. I used the word fuckers becos any given day I luv Chiranjeevi much more than I luv the people of Andhra Pradesh"

Though the tweet looks curt, those who read between the lines say that Ramu is actually taking a dig at the megastar. Knowing Chiranjeevi’s current political position and the response he is getting from the crowds, many are saying that such tweets from Ramu could only be satires and not super compliments.

No Star Value... No Market Value

A new trend has taken over the circuit of distributors, exhibitors and even the satellite channels. They are keen on going only for ‘star’ heroes and as a result, the market for the average or budding heroes has gone for a toss. Notable among the latter category are Srikanth, Uday Kiran, Tarun, Nani, Tanish, Sivaji, Krishnudu and others.

The word from the distributor circle is that without star power, it is difficult to get crowds to the theatres. As a result, if a B-grade hero is taken then extra money has to be spent to keep the film running in the theatres. Sources say that nearly 20 films on small budgets are already on the floors but getting them to the theatres is still doubtful, say trade analysts.

With buyers and channels giving preference only for top five stars it has become a tough game for the rest. Few of the senior cine folks such as producer Suresh Babu suggest that it is time for the Telugu audience to welcome new faces and new ideas along with the regular commercial flicks. As part of this, he is also planning to come up with film appreciation debates and encourage films with novel ideas.

If this doesn’t happen then there is no doubt in saying that the future of many heroes lies in the dark.

C Kalyan Arrested In Chennai!!??

It has been quite a while since producer C Kalyan has been seen often in public gatherings after the death of Maddelacheruvu Suri. Apparently, Kalyan’s name has popped up for his alleged dealings with the slain factionist and since then sources say he was in hiding.

Recently, one of his contemporary Singanamala Ramesh having a similar equation with Suri was arrested in Chennai. Now, it is heard that even Kalyan who was giving the slip to the cops since a while finally got arrested in Chennai by the CID officials.

So far, no official announcement has been given on this but reports from Chennai confirm that Kalyan is in the custody of the CID folks. The coming hours will give a clear picture on this.

Chiranjeevi's Statement Bringing Laughs

The megastar has done it again!! Despite severe criticism and brickbats from media and political analysts, Chiru came up with a fresh set of statements which has made him the ultimate subject for comedy.

Well Chiru said “I am not going to act in films anymore, I have given the responsibility to Ramcharan so my fans can see me in him. Not just in films I will become CM in real life, that is my target as the people want me to become the Chief Minister.”

Hearing these statements, many are laughing their guts out. They are saying “For someone who cannot win in his own constituency how Chiranjeevi will become CM? Without any knowledge about politics, merging with congress how can he even expect to be given that post? ”

Another talk is “Maybe he was hinting towards Kiran Kumar or Rosiah as examples, but both are political veterans. At this point, Chiru is confirmed to lose even in Tirupathi as he has done zero work there. With this track record, it is a dream that he can become CM. Maybe he will try some governor nomination or short cut, not sure if there is any process like that.”

Sources close to Chiru say “Just for the chair of CM, Chiranjeevi is showing so much desperation and immaturity. His little left fans are unable to understand where they should keep their heads due to their megastar’s madness.”

Rajinikanth's son-in-law and actor Dhanush has condemned the reports in a Tamil daily on the Superstar's alleged weight loss. "Guys d news on a tamil daily wch says superstar has lost weight and all s absolutely made up and false.he looks as stylish as ever.god bless," said Dhanush. The media reports went on to say that the Superstar has lost too much weight and is now appearing too skinny, due to his ill-health. Dhanush has said that Rajini is looking forward to kick start his upcoming film 'Rana' as soon as possible. "Rajinikanth has recovered from his illness. He is waiting to start his period film 'Rana'. He wants to entertain his fans. We are indebted to fans. The family is deeply touched," he added. Dhanush also said Rajini is likely to return to India in the next two weeks.

"I'm not replacing Aishwarya Rai"

Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra has rubbished the rumours in a section of media that she is gonna replace Aishwarya Rai in the much awaited film of the year 'Heroine'. "Read some stupid article about how i wanna do Madhur Bandarkar's film 'Heroine'. I think Madhur is an amazing director and... it'll be amazing to work together again but GUYS this one aint it!!! He asked me not to speak in Telugu: Charmee

Bubbly beauty Charmee is making her debut in Bollywood with none other than Amitabh Bachchan in the film 'Buddha Hoga Tera Baap', which is being directed by Puri Jagannath. The actress says sharing screen space with Amitabh is one of the most memorable moments in her career. "Working with Amitji was one of the most memorable moments in my film career. He is such a humble person. I was very nervous on the first day of shoot. But, Amitabh made me comfortable. I play the role of Amitabh's friend in the film," says Charmee. Charmee says Amitabh has asked her quite a few times not to speak in Telugu on the sets. "Puri Jagannath and Me used to converse in Telugu. Amitabh used to say, 'No regionalism on the sets please. You guys must speak in Hindi'. However, we used to unconsciously switch to Telugu," she said.

We are aware that glamour queen Katrina Kaif topped the list of '100 Sexiest Women 2011', which was held by the Men's magazine. The list is based on SMSes and Online Voting. Katrina surpassed Deepika Padukone, who grabbed this title last year. A whooping 35,000 votes were polled in favor of Katrina Kaif. This is the third time that Kat has topped the sexiest woman poll. She won the same title in 2008 and subsequently in 2009. Katrina says she would show her grandchildren her magazine covers on a wall after 50 years. "First time I got this title, I was very shocked. Second time I got, I was like it's a lot of fun. And now this year, I think it's been a wonderful shoot. It's always nice, because I would say that when you have grandchildren and you look back over those years, I mean 50 years from now, I could have those magazine covers on a wall and I can say one time I was considered sexy," said Katrina Kaif. I can't shoot with pregnant Aish

One man who is upset with Aishwarya Rai's pregnancy is none other than her awaited film 'Heroine' director Madhur Bhandarkar. Till the news broke out to media, the director was unaware of the fact that he is working with preganant Aish. However, his dreams were stattered as he has realised that there is no way he can shoot the film with the dates given to him by the actress. So, Madhur Bhandarkar has finally decided to shelve the film. The film 'Heroine' is about a life of an actress, which showcases both ups & downs she has under gone. The role requires Aishwarya to smoke, dance, run around and do things, which are normally not advisable for a pregnant woman. Apart from being worried about not being able to shoot with a five-month pregnant Ash, the director is also concerned that she might not be available when the post-production and promotional work starts. While the director has decided to go underground for a while after shelving the project, to keep himself away from the media glare.
