Heroine Facing 'Shit' Insult

When an actor/actress comes up with an unusual stint on the screen, it is natural that they must live with that for a while off the screen as well. Right now, one actress has been going through that phase and unfortunately for her, it is turning out to be embarrassing and humiliating.

She is the Tamil actress Janani Iyer who was seen in the recent release ‘Vaadu Veedu’ essaying the role of a police constable. Now, Janani did a scene with full gusto wherein she teases hero Vishal with a ‘shit’ related situation. Buzz is that the teasing has boomeranged on her now.

Sources say public are teasing Janani wherever she goes with the ‘shit’ joke and some have taken it a step ahead and are sending sms. While that is not the correct thing to do, the cine folks close to Janani are advising her to take it on her stride and the ‘shit’ thing will die down slowly.

Excellent Message from 'Vaadu Veedu'

Excellent Message from 'Vaadu Veedu'

We Telugu people easily absorb any kind of messages preached through film media. While we have great men like NTR, Chiranjeevi, Mohan Babu and others offering their social service coming from glamour field, here is one man who became the central subject in enlightened section of film audiences coming out watching the film ‘vaadu veedu.’
The man whom we are speaking about is none other than Tamil star hero Suriya and his organization Agaram Foundation. Special appearance of Suriya at a school function in the film ‘vaadu veedu’ witnesses the excellent performance of Vishal depicting the nine emotions (Navarasas) and the other purpose of his guest appearance is to make audience know about his Agaram Foundation, working towards helping the under privileged in attaining their right to knowledge and quality education. Suriya started this Foundation and helping the poor to get educated.
As a part of movie, Suriya delivered an excellent message. ‘We always think of helping others in future only after earning enough money. But, we never remember it. Let us help at least one person in need today rather than doing it for many in future.’ Let us see, how many of his Fans will follow his words in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Tamil Audience Blasting Telugu Reviewers

Time and again, it has been proved that the difference between Telugu and Tamil audience is like Chalk and Cheese. Well, it is always a debate as to who is Chalk and who is Cheese. For now, the Tamil thambis are not too happy with the Telugu reviewers and here is the reason for that.

Apparently, the latest movie ‘Vaadu Veedu’ directed by Bala has been slammed by the Telugu critics and given thumbs down. Now, the Tamil Thambis are blasting the reviewers. Emails and calls are coming saying “Telugu people don’t know how to watch Bala’s flick and they can never reach his league.”

Well, it is true that we can never reach Bala’s league. The kind of extreme eccentricity he showed in his latest movie, no person with a sane brain would go near that. As such, the film has been given a beating by the Tollywood audience as well. Some are saying perhaps it is time for Bala and his fans to amend the movies and then comment.

Director's justice for two heroes

Director's justice for two heroes

There is always a scope for cat fights to arise in a unit when they are working in particular for a multi starrer film. Directors have to convince the audience and especially Fans of these heroes with each and every scene picturized. As Vishal and Arya are two mass heroes in Tamil, director Bala had an uphill task to chisel their characters in ‘vaadu veedu.’ Being producer of the film is Vikram Krishna, brother of Vishal there were several doubts expressed by media and audience on Arya to be easily suppressed by the screen time that is to be allocated for Vishal.
Contrary to these inferior questions, Bala has shown his professional approach doing justice to two heroes in the film. He gave equal importance for Vishal and Arya without disappointing any. When Vishal impresses with ‘Nava Rasalu’ in a stage show scene before Suriya, the immediate scene given for Arya was equivalently big. Even the climax fight was equally shared between them. Same such instances are numerous in the movie that makes ‘vaadu veedu,’ worth a watch movie.

'Vaadu Veedu' Review: Disgusting Torture

Rating: 1/5
Banner:
 G K Film Corporation
Cast: Vishal, Arya, Madhu Shalini, Janani Iyer, G M Kumar, Suriya (guest role), Ambica, Prabha and others
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Cinematographer: Arthur Wilson
Editor: Sreekar Prasad
Story, screenplay, direction: Bala
Producer: Vikram Krishna
Release date: 17/06/2011
The hard hitting movie maker Bala is back and this time he has softened his flavour to provide some entertainment. Was it really entertaining? Let us see..
Story
Set on the backdrop of a village, the story is about two step brothers Walter (Vishal) and Dhandalsamy (Arya) born to two different mothers. Both of them are thieves but Walter has a special affinity for acting. Both brothers keep fighting tooth and nail for every small thing.
However, they have immense respect for one highness (G M Kumar). On the other hand, Walter falls in love with constable Baby (Janani) while Dhandalasamy falls in love with Nagu (Madhu Shalini). While life looks smooth for them, an incident happens bringing a grave impact to their lives.
What is that incident? What happens in the process forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Vishal has undoubtedly come up with an award winning performance. His body language, his squint eyed expression and his versatility in displaying various emotions is exceptional. This is perhaps the first time he has given such a committed performance.
Arya underplays his role this time and takes the backseat. But there are those occasional scenes where flashes of his brilliance can be seen.
GM Kumar gives a dedicated performance without inhibition. Given his age, it is truly remarkable for an individual to shed his ego and do certain scenes. Hats off to him!!
Janani conveys a lot through her expressions and though her role is limited, she makes her presence felt.
Madhu Shalini scores with her innocent looks and a natural sex appeal. She has justified her role with effective performance.
Suriya in a guest role scores few brownie points, Ambica was apt, Prabha was different and rustic, Vignesh was alright. The others did their bit as required.
Highlights
  • Vishal’s performance
  • Screenplay
  • Technical aspects
  • The Navarasa scene in the presence of Suriya
  • Background score
Disappointments
  • Lewd dialogues
  • Poor storyline
  • Extremities in few sequences
  • Overdose of realism
Analysis:The film was made with only one objective- to bring out the performer in Vishal and the actor has utilized this opportunity to the fullest.
While a fair share of credit can be given to him, an equally good share must be given to Bala for squeezing out the performance from Vishal. But in this process, there are few crucial things which have missed the mark.
For starters, Bala has proved again that he is a master technician and an impressive storyteller but that alone will not suffice to engage the audience. There must be a reasonable storyline and enough quotient of connect to involve the viewer. That was missing as the whole film relied on screenplay, visual appeal than content. While it is appreciated that a film must be close to reality, it is time Bala reduces his barbarism when it comes to dialogues. Here are few instances
  • Vishal speaking to his own mother about wearing bra, that was disgusting
  • Few dialogues related to shit
  • G M Kumar’s naked scene that sounded extreme and lacked conviction
  • Police inspector being treated like a scum bag by ordinary thieves
Overall, this is a film which will appeal to those who like out of the box films with the technicalities of film making. Those who follow the Bala style of films, they will like it to a large extent. In a way, it is better than his earlier venture ‘Nenu Devudni’. To those who look for fun, entertainment or some dramatism, they will get restless in no time. At the box office, this has a hard chance to score success but then it has enough ingredients to shine at international film festivals and offbeat cine circuits.
If any audience comes out of the theatre without nauseate feel or mild headache and if he is really says that it’s ‘superb’ it can be concluded that they are possessed with some sadism in themselves.
Bottomline: Only for art-house audience, not for entertainment or mainstream audience.
