The Congress-convert Chiranjeevi is believed to have declined an offer by the party high command to get nominated to Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra quota.
The actor-turned-politician is insisting that he should be sent to the Upper House from Andhra Pradesh. He is understood to have told Delhi bosses that he was willing to wait for a vacancy to arise from the state.
The Congress leadership is planning to induct Chiranjeevi into the central cabinet through Rajya Sabha route. “Chiranjeevi is in no hurry to get into the union cabinet. He is willing to wait so that he can represent the state in Rajya Sabha,” sources said.
However, Chiranjeevi is insisting that three of his legislators should be inducted into the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet. He had also suggested the names of C Ramachandraiah, Ghanta Srinivas Rao and Anil Kumar for the cabinet berths.
On its part, the Congress has offered to accommodate only two of the erstwhile Praja Rajyam Party MLAs. In that case, Chiranjeevi wants a post of AP representative in Delhi for one of his legislators.
He is also lobbying for important organizational posts including the DCC Presidents and key positions in the state Congress executive body.
