The first name that is standing tall among the top earners of Tollywood is that of Mahesh Babu. And it is natural to expect that the next in line or someone in the competing range would be another superstar. However, it appears that one non-actor is earning as good as Mahesh in the cine circuit.
He is none other than music director S S Thaman. Sources say “Thaman is minting money like crazy. He is doing nearly 20 films per year and that too in all languages. His remuneration is anywhere between Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 1 crore for each film. Of course, his price is less in Kannada and Malayalam.”
They add “That way, he is making nearly Rs 10 cr – Rs 15 cr per annum. This is almost touching Mahesh’s remuneration for 2 films (not including share in profits). So, Thaman is scoring tunes everywhere. Most importantly, his expenses are around 20% of his income. Because he has continuous work, singers compromise on their payment and associate with him.”
