Young Directors Vs Old Heroes

There was a time when film making was considered an art and due to that, convention had a lot of role to play in it. But today, it is all about business, budgets and quick bucks.
As a result, even the permutations and combinations have changed. Now, the crucial factor for any film to be successful is the equation between the hero and the director. If they are not on the same page, the film is sure to sink at the box office. So, with young and fresh directors making their foray, even their preferences have been changing.

It is noticed that the preference for old heroes has come down drastically. Names like Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Balakrishna are not generating interest in many. Instead, they are waiting for call sheets of folks like Rana, Naga Chaitanya, Ramcharan etc. As such, a common opinion has been formed “We don’t have the guts to take Balayya, we are scared of Venky because he will dilly dally for years and may not confirm in the end. We are somewhat interested in Nag but he is on borderline.”

Going by this, it is looking evident that the senior generation is almost gone and the combo of young directors with old heroes is looking remote.
The analysts say “These days, the young movie makers come with more determination and are not willing to compromise on their script and storyline. And the senior heroes are usually fixed on their image, fan satisfaction and other factors so striking a balance is really challenging.“

“Also, there is an old school thought which runs in the senior generation and given their profiles, it is heard for them to become an actor for a fresher. On the other hand, the young movie makers are coming up with more cost efficient and urban flavoured storylines so accommodating a big gun is as good as nil.”
But there are those who say that with fresh ideas, a new perspective can be created for these heroes and they can deliver something versatile which can increase their life in the film industry. Well…it is either the old heroes who should be willing to become flexible or the young directors willing to handle the senior stars.
