Chiranjeevi had long ago abandoned the plans of having his own residence — White House — in Tirupati. During electioneering, he used to operate from the residence of PRP convener J Srinivas, which he wanted to be converted into a White House, which never happened anyway.
Meanwhile, supporting the students’ stir, former PRP leader Shobharani said their fight was genuine and hoped Chiranjeevi would be ‘available’ to his constituents to solve their problems.
However, PRP MLA Vanga Geetha alleged that it was part of a sinister campaign against Chiranjeevi. “He isn’t running away from his constituency. As the leader of a political party, he has several other issues to deal with. The charge that he is not available to the people of Tirupati is ridiculous,” she said.
The students are demanding the immediate scrapping of the GO which, they alleged, benefited only the veterinary graduates belonging to the V, VI and II zones and affected the job chances of the students of other zones. The GO issued on Feb. 15 this year pertains to recruitment of posts of veterinary assistant surgeons as per the zonal system which the students allege is discriminatory.
