Megastar-turned-Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi’s adamant attitude for giving cabinet berths to Ghanta Srinivasa Rao and C Ramachandraiah is baffling the political observers in the state.
Any prudent politician can say that cabinet expansion is no easy task, as it involves various equations, particularly regional and caste. Any imbalances in these equations would upset the entire cabinet and would result in a lot of heartburn among the other aspirants.
But Chiranjeevi seems to have forgotten these fundamentals. One fails to understand why Chiranjeevi is recommending two leaders from the same community for cabinet berths, which is causing a lot of disgruntlement among others.
The PRP president could have recommended one person from Andhra and another from Telangana to maintain the regional balance. He could have also suggested one from Kapu; and another from Reddy or Vaisya or BC community. There are many other eligible MLAs from different castes in his group.
So, one fails to understand why Chiranjeevi is firm on C Ramachandraiah, who is only an MLC. One can understand his compulsions on Ghanta Srinivasa Rao because he is a powerful leader in his constituency, but why Ramachandraiah? There seems to be no logic. It may finally boomerang on Chiranjeevi, observers say.
