Story | ||||||||||||
Pawan Kalyan fans are going through a lull phase after his recent films are not doing well at the box office. They are jubilant after seeing the Pawan Kalyan getup and teasers of the film ‘Panjaa’. All are waiting to see the Power star on big screen with huge expectations and hope. The day has and wait is over for all the Power star fans who are eagerly awaiting the release of ‘Panjaa’. Bhagawan ( Jackie Shroff), a gangster gives shelter to Jai ( Pawan Kalyan) who lost his mother and sister in his teens. Growing up Jai becomes a loyal and trusted hatchet man in his gang. Sabhapati ( Paruchuri Venkateshwar Rao), Guru ( Tanikella Bharani ) are also the members of Bhagawan gang. Everything was fine until Bhagawan son Munna (Shehu) arrives from abroad. Munna, a womanizer and drug addict ill-treats everyone in the gang. Jai kills Munna when later tries to kill Jai friend Jahnavi( Anjali Laviana) for ignoring him. Jai leaves Calcutta and Bhagawan to his girlfriend Sandhya ( Sara Jane Dais) village in Andhra Pradesh. Now, Bhagawan is after Jai to take revenge. Who will win the battle is anybody’s guess.
Performance | ||||||||||||
Pawan Kalyan looks different with wearing a beard. He is stylish and his body language is apt for the role. Unfortunately, the role didn’t etch well. It lacks energy. The role only shows the action side of Pawan Kalyan. He danced well in the ‘Papa Rayudu’ song. Heroine Sarah Jane Dias looked pretty and considering it is her debut film in Telugu, she did pretty well. Second heroine Anjali Lavania acted in a brief role, but her assets are feast to the audience. She will be considered for the ultra-glamour roles in future. Jackie Shroff as a gangster justified his selection. Tanikella Bharani, Paruchuri Venkateshwar Rao acted in less important roles. Atul Kularni is wasted in the movie. Sheshu Adavi as young villain is noisy. Subba Raju and Jhansi restricted to couple of scenes. Ali couldn’t evoke laughs as Pawan Kalyan assistant in first half. Brahmanandam is only relief in the movie who appears in second half.
Technical | ||||||||||||
Director Vishnu Vardhan who is known for making stylish films failed in the direction department. Vishnu Vardhan chose an age old story alright, but didn’t give the right treatment to appease the current generation audience. Rahul Koda has to learn a lot about screen play. Movie is slow in its pace right from start to finish. There is lot of scope for Editing. The only positive thing about movie is music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by PS Vinod. Dialogues by Abburi Ravi are good in couple of scenes. Action by Shaam kaushal is a big letdown. One would expect a lot in action genre movies. Styling by Anu Vardhan is good.
Analysis | ||||||||||||
Director Vishnu Vardhan tried too much impress Pawan Kalyan in out and out action oriented role totally forgot about audience. This out and out action film lacks novelty in terms of story, screenplay or taking. All you will see is hero escapes unhurt thro raining bullets. While the action part is monotonous, other ingredients like romance, sentiment and comedy took back seat. Our Tamil director didn’t know what audience expects from Pawan Kalyan. He failed to establish a romantic thread between hero and heroine. Audience expects a lot from Pawan Kalyan and Ali. Their combo scenes are disappointing. The only relief and best part in the movie is ‘Papa Rayudu’ song and Pawan Kalyan dance. On the whole, it is a big disappointment to Pawan Kalyan fans and audience who are expecting an entertainer from Pawan Kalyan. One more movie in Power star flop films list….Avoid it unless you are dying fan of Pawan Kalyan desperate to see him on big screen. |
