These days, political criticism has crossed all boundaries of decency and decorum, so much so that politicians have started attacking one another in cheap and vulgar language.
Take for instance, the criticism by YSR Congress party leader and actress Roja against megastar-turned politician Chiranjeevi. She described Chiranjeevi as a beggar who is waiting in front of the Congress high command with a begging bowl for posts and positions.
"He launched Praja Rajyam Party with a lot of fanfare stating that he would usher in an era of social justice. But he failed to realise his dream of becoming the Chief Minister as people rejected him. After that he could not run his party and finally merged with the same Congress party which he had criticised in the past. Now he is behaving like a beggar before the Congress party," Roja criticised.
The Chiru group reacted sharply to her unsavoury remarks. "If at all there is any beggar in state politics, it must be Roja herself. She changed her parties like her roles in films and went to the parties in power like a beggar. Now, she is begging for posts in YSR Congress," senior PRP legislator Ganta Srinivasa Rao said.
As the electioneering begins for byelections, you can expect more such comments from political leaders.
