More than 15 years after her death in the most suspicious circumstances, sensuous south Indian dancing girl Silk Smitha is still drawing huge crowds, of course in the form of Vidya Balan.
The latest Bollywood flick “The Dirty Picture” made on the life story of Silk Smitha has received rave reviews from film critics and appreciation from film lovers across the state, despite controversies and court litigations.
The film has been a major commercial hit even in the Telugu land and pushed behind all the other releases last week, particularly noted film maker Ram Gopal Varma’s much-hyped film Bezawada.
Out of the four films that were released last week, only The Dirty Picture was drawing crowds to the theatres and generated a lot of interest among the viewers.
In fact, Bezawada’s miserable flop was a rude shock to Varma, who always looks for publicity by raking up controversies. So, Bezawada joined Varma’s string of flop movies in the last few years.
Two other films – “Sangharshana” starring Allari Naresh and Colours Swathi; and “Priyudu” starring Varun Sandesh and Swetha Basu Prasad also turned out to be normal flicks.
Coming to this week, even Panja, the much-publicised film of power star Pawan Kalyan, has failed to generate good talk.
