The actor-couple Jeevitha and Rajasekhar, who failed to make it big in politics and also in films, now landed in legal troubles for making wild allegations against Chiranjeevi Blood Bank promoted by megastar-politician K Chiranjeevi.
Chiranjeevi’s brother-in-law and producer Allu Aravind filed a criminal defamation suit against Jeevitha and Rajasekhar for maligning the image of the megastar.
On Monday, Aravind gave a statement in the Nampally criminal court, countering the charges made by the couple.
He pointed out that an official committee appointed by the state government had declared that there were no irregularities in the blood bank and that it was functioning strictly according to norms and National Aids Control Organisation (NACO) guidelines.
Ever since Chiranjeevi entered politics, Jeevitha and Rajasekhar have been attacking him and came out with statements against the blood bank, pointing out several irregularities in it.
After the government gave it a clean chit last year, the couple changed the tune, stating that they had never said there were malpractices in the blood bank.
“What we pointed out was that Chiranjeevi blood bank was not a charitable institution, despite securing more than 4,000 square yards of land free of cost from the government. We proved with all the documents that it was an out and out commercial blood bank like any other such organization,” the couple said.
Right now, Jeevitha and Rajasekhar are no where. After coming out of the YSR Congress party, they tried their luck to rejoin the Telugu Desam Party. But party president N Chandrababu Naidu was not very keen on admitting them, sources said.
