Though our life is all about glitz, glamour, success and celebrity status it also comes with a baggage. The baggage is all about intrusion into our privacy, taking a mole and making a mountain hill out of it. Yeah…this is the life of an actor who goes into limelight. While there are those who do their share of unethical things, not all are the same. There are also some real good men who know where to draw a line and treat cinema industry purely as their profession.
But the recent influx of the drugs, the arrests and their links with cine circuit has been disturbing me. As soon as the peddlers are caught they take our names and media channels show their over enthusiasm. The same has happened with Varun Sandesh and he is pipped due to this over frenzy of the TV news channels. Just because some freaking Nigerian or Somalian takes our names, you cannot start building a castle of allegations and create perceptions without knowing the facts.
The same applies for film websites. For you, it is all about making money and getting readership, but for us, it is our lives and reputation at stake. Once a name is taken and linked up to anything bad, the black mark remains for a long time. The peddlers are just using names of celebrities to create diversion, gain publicity and buy some time. But TV channels and website, please don’t use it to hike your TRPs. A simple act of support or atleast an effort to know the facts will bring a lot of support and goodwill to you.
A celebrity’s life is not just about himself and his glory, one way or the other it does have an impact on the society. And if he/she is projected wrongly and brought into focus, it is bound to inspire few ignorant individuals who presume this is the ticket to fame and fortune. I am hoping the media realizes what they are doing (which I am sure they know) and follows some ethics to give value to our lives and credibility..
