After remaining in oblivion for nearly two years, former union minister and “rebel star” U V Krishnam Raju has started evincing interest in politics again.
He told the media persons on Friday on the occasion of his birthday that he would stage a come back into politics, but he would disclose shortly as to which political party he would be joining.
“As of now, I am not happy with any political party. I don’t find any pro-poor policies and ideology for any political party. Yet, I will choose the best among them,” he said.
Krishnam Raju, who had begun his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party and had the seen the peak of his career by becoming union minister of state during the NDA regime, joined the Praja Rajyam Party before 2009 elections. He unsuccessfully contested from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha seat in 2009 elections. Subsequently when PRP president Chiranjeevi started tilting towards the Congress party and the party became inactive, Krishnam Raju resigned from it and remained apolitical.
If speculations are to be believed, Krishnam Raju is looking towards the Telugu Desam Party, which is desperately looking for the support of Kshatriyas, the powerful community in East and West Godavari districts. Let us watch out for his plans.
