One can understand the anguish and agony of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy over the way the Central Bureau of Investigation has been going about with its investigation into his alleged illegal assets case, Emaar case and Obulapuram mining scam, because it is pretty evident that the CBI is targeting him from all angles.
Despite all that, Jagan never made any derogatory comments against the CBI officials though he criticized them and his party leaders accused him of having political bias. But, there is one person who made a wild attack on the CBI officials in connection with the ongoing investigations; and surprisingly, he is Telugu Desam Party MP from Narsaraopet Modugula Venugopal Reddy.
Modugula is angry with the CBI officials because the Ranky group of companies, in which he is the director, is under the CBI scanner for its investments in the Jagan’s business empire. The inquiries revealed that the Ramky group also used indirect routes to invest into the Jagan’s companies and there are reports that the CBI officials might pick Modugula and his brother-in-law Ayodhya Rami Reddy, the chairman of Ramky group up for questioning anytime.
This has made Modugula very angry. “Let the CBI officials come to my house. I will beat them with chappals. What do they think of me? How dare they question me?” he shouted in a party meeting in his constituency.
At a time when TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu is shouting from roof top over the corrupt practices of Jagan, his own party MP is speaking against the CBI inquiry. What would Naidu do now is the question.
