Ramoji Suffers A Setback In Supreme Court

The media baron Ch Ramoji Rao received a setback when the Supreme Court on Friday warned him of a befitting consequence of filing a suit with wrong and false information.
Dismissing a petition filed by the chairman of Eenadu Group, seeking permission to file an amended petition in relation to the leased land at Seetamma Dhara in Visakhapatnam on which his Eenadu offices were constructed, the apex court expressed its anger for filing the petition with false information.
“You know very well in advance that the said land in Visakhapatnam was about 11,200 square yards and your version that you came to know of the fact just now is all false,” said the court angrily warning him of a befitting consequence.
The issue relates to the leased land in Visakhapatnam on which Ramoji built his Eenadu office. Ramoji Rao surrendered part of the land to the municipal authorities for road widening saying the land belonged to him and got compensatory land somewhere from the Municipal corporation.
However this was not informed to the land owner Mr Varma who filed a cheating case against Ramoji Rao. Both of them were fighting legal cases in the local Visakhapatnam court and the high court.
Faced with adversities in both courts, Ramoji filed a petition in high court seeking quashing of all proceedings against him in the case. In that petition, he mentioned the land as 9,200 square yards and Varma lodged a complaint again that the media baron was lying about the land which was 11,200 square yards.
Based on the facts, the high court dismissed Ramoji petition saying he had filed it with false information and misled the court. Ramoji approached the Supreme Court saying he came to know of the details of the land very late and sought permission to file an amended petition in the High Court. Supreme Court dismissed this petition.
