Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce has formed a committee to check the inflow of dubbing films at the cost of local films as there is a yawning gap in the production cost between the two. The committee comprising producers, distributors and exhibitors will be discussing the proposals and pass a resolution to be sent to the State Government to legislate it. Some of the proposals before the committee include:
1. Increasing the tax on dubbed movies from the current 20 percent to 50 percent.
2. Allowing the release of only straight Telugu movies during important festivals.
3. Restricting the number of screens for dubbed movies (producers say 85 theatres while exhibitors demand 150).
The resolution will ask the Government to implement the demands from January 1, 2012. |
