While Ram Gopal Varma is all kicked about his new film Not A Love Story (earlier titled A Love Story) based on the Neeraj Grover murder case, the deceased's family is not.
The bereaved parents of the creative director who was ruthlessly murdered by his girlfriend and her lover, are in a state of shock. They couldn't believe that a filmmaker could so unfeelingly want to make money by putting their personal tragedy on celluloid.
Neeraj's mother, Mrs Neelam Grover became aware of this under production film only when her son's friends called her up. Talking to Mumbai Mirror last evening, she asked, "Pray, why is Varma doing this?"
"This is simply harassment. My husband (Mr Amarnath Grover) and I are old and deeply grieved. Ramu ko bilkul aisa nahin karna chahiye," she added.
Crying at their own helplessness, Mrs Grover went on to add, "Lekin dekha jaye to hum kar bhi kya sakte hain? Kisko kahein aur kya kahein? Hum to toot chuke hain."
A few hours later, Neeraj's elder sister Shikha called up to say, "Well, Ramu has not even taken our permission on making a film on what happened with my brother. We want to forget it and he is still rubbing it in. Can something be done to stop this film from being made? Can anybody please help us in this regard?"
Ram Gopal Varma, who did not even deem it fit to as much as inform the bereaved family about his film, continued to stay insensitive to the issue. Turning a deaf ear, the filmmaker chose not to reply to our continuous calls and messages.
The Brutal Story Maria Susairaj has been behind bars since May 2008. She was arrested on charges of plotting the murder of Neeraj Grover. According to police, Grover had promised Maria roles in Hindi films. When she found out that it was not working out, she killed Grover with the help of her boyfriend and Indian Navy personnel Emile Jerome, also in jail now. The two allegedly stabbed Grover to death, dismembered his body and then burnt it in a forest.
