Telugu films hardly get a wide release in Mumbai and usually any big starrer is released in about 10 theatres. However, Mahesh Babu’s Dookudu was released in 13 theatres, which is highest so far for any Telugu film and the reception has been tremendous in Mumbai too. The film was also released in couple of screens in Nagpur and Pune.
Looks like the strategy to release in as many theatres as possible in first week is paying rich dividends to the producers. In Chennai, the film was released in about 15 screens and it got the highest ever opening for a Telugu film in Chennai. Most of the shows were reported to be housefull prompting several producers to vie for the remake rights of the film.
