'Nenu Na Rakshasi' Music Review: It's Ok!

Daggubati Rana is all set to arrive with his second film ‘Nenu Naa Rakshasi’ and this time he has teamed up with the sizzling hot Ileana and crazy director Puri Jagannadh. The audio release happened grandly and interestingly, this marks the debut of lyricists as the music directors. They are the duo of Vishwa and Rahman while Anoop Rubens has also contributed. Let us see how the songs are..

Melli Malli Merupula
This is an intense song and takes off on a charging note. The musical mix is balanced as it has a good proportion of electric guitar, drums. The music has been complemented very well with the energetic voice of Shankar Mahadevan. He has dominated the song with his high pitch and the pace of the song is quite consistent. Rahman has penned the lyrics and he has used simple words to express the intensity of finding a loved one.

Padithinammo
The track takes a total inspiration from Michael Jackson’s hit song and the difference is that the musical trio has kept the tone on a softer note with smooth beats. The regular instruments such as an electric guitar, drums are used but then they have instilled good pace and brought some nativity with their instruments. Vishwa has rendered his voice and he has also written the lyrics. This can be considered as a tribute to MJ in our own way. The idea of falling in love and the feeling has been expressed genuinely which is likeable.

Meenaachi
This is a raunchy mass number and one can see the flavor of the Tamil song ‘Lajjavati…’ and the music directors have created a melodious tune with folk instruments. They are not too loud but has a soft tone. The key appeal to this song is the vocals rendered by the trio of Geetha Madhuri, Vishwa, Rahul Nambiar and they have given high levels of energy and enough masala which will strike a chord with the masses. Vishwa penned the lyrics with some naughty lines and has given a poetic touch in this teasing number.

Papam PunyamThis is a mass number but has been arranged on a western beat. A very peppy song, the opening is interesting with guitar and the musical team has given a refreshing tune which is creative. This is a duet which has been rendered by the voices of Bhargavi Pillai and Hemachandra. Both have given proper adrenalin to the track and Rahman has given a cocktail of Hindi lines as well as rap lyrics. With a slight cowboy flavor, the song is very nice to listen to. This will click with the youngsters.

Padithinammo (Remix)
Just like the original track, even this song is almost similar except that the backdrop beats have been changed. The musical trio has added some rap lines to it and increased the base of the background beat. The drums and the remix elements are consistent and Vishwa has given an involved contribution to it. He is also the lyricist and this is a peppy song which will appeal to the youth audience.

Nenu Na Rakshasi (Theme)
This is a highlight track and which opens in a very impressive manner. There is a western beat to it and one can recall the title track of the Hollywood flick ‘The Hitman’ in a slight tinge. However, the musical team has added a good vocal and clubbed it with intense violin and synthesizing beats. Though the pace is slow, it has enough depth and works well as a background score. This can be used as a nice instrumental mobile caller tune.

Overall, the album has got variety in the tracks but not in the composition. Given the genre of the film, perhaps a romantic melody would have made the album complete. On the bright side, the musical team has attempted to get in some fresh feel but the focus was more on nativity and mass numbers and not on soothing tracks. This will work with the masses well and to those who love fast beat songs.
