'Piracy' Rocket @ Popular Film Lab

'Piracy' Rocket @ Popular Film Lab
Piracy ghost has its wings sprawled across the Telugu Film Industry, pushing many producers into unrecoverable losses. Earlier, piracy of newly released to movies is said to be done overseas after which a copy is sent to India via internet. Now, this ghost has its gang operating in the heart of Film Nagar, as per reports.

This Film-Studio has all the latest facilitates from production to post-production and plays a major role in Telugu Cinema Industry's productions. A rumor is doing rounds in Film Nagar that a 'piracy rocket' is on a spree at the Film Printing Lab of this studio. Prior to a film's release, its pirated version is getting recorded on the hard-disk of a HD camera when the first copy of it is getting printed. Recently released RGV's 'Dongala Muta' and Charmi's 'Mangala' are the victims of this 'ghost' in the heart of Tinsel town. It is also heard that many big-wigs are involved in this racket, which earns crores of rupees when a new movie is released.

Popcorn + Photos By Hot Heroine!!!

Wondering what this combo is about?? Well, this is something which happened recently at a noted multiplex in Hyderabad. The event was the premiere show of a Telugu film and here is a highlight which caught the attention of many visitors.

The person for the evening was the leading lady of the film Charmy and the film we are talking about is ‘Mangala’. The pretty girl was in high spirits and she was busy mingling with the guests and was using her cell phone as well to take the pictures apart from the media folks who were using their cameras.

It was more like a fun event as close friends and folks from the industry were there and the icing on the cake was the popcorn which added to the entertainment. With someone hot like Charmee as the hostess and something filling like popcorn what more can one ask for.

'Mangala' Review: Not Up To Expectations

Film: MangalaRating: 2.5/5
Banner: Mantra Entertainments
Cast: Charmy, Subhash, Pradeep Rawath, Shyamala, Uttej and others
Music: Vishwa
Cinematography: Dasaradhi Sivendra
Story, screenplay, direction: Tulasiram
Producer: Ch.V. Sharma
Release date: 02/03/2011

The impact of ‘Mantra’ was quite strong at the box office so director Osho Tulasiram has come up with a similar concept. Yet again, he has roped in his favorite Charmy who is currently going through a lean patch of her career. Let us see how it worked for both.

Story
Mangala (Charmy) is a famous heroine and she has many fans. One among them (Vijay Sai) is not just obsessed about Mangala but he is sensitive as well. He decides to gift a car to Mangala and asks his father (Pradeep Rawath) who does black magic, for money. The doting father takes money from a rich man and uses his evil powers to kill a child and gives the amount to his son.
However, when the fans comes to city and meets Mangala, a misunderstanding makes her think that he tried to misbehave and the fans gets beaten by Mangala’s driver/confidante (Subhash). Hurt by this, the fan attempts suicide. He is unwilling to take the medicine in the hospital till he sees Mangala. Despite several requests from his father, Mangala is unable to come due to her shooting and takes it easy. The fan dies and the enraged father unleashes the horrifying ‘Sakuchi’ – a spell that will lead to death. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performances
Charmee is the life and soul for the film. A remarkable performance from her end which is mixed with the right body language, irresistible sex appeal and haunting expressions. Overall, a good show.

Pradeep Rawath looks scary and though his role is brief, he has done enough to create an impact in the audience.

Subhash has come up with an adequate performance and he supports Charmy with his act.

The duo of Uttej and Saptagiri and their woes with the Tamil director bring some funny moments but sometimes it gets overboard.

Highlights
  • Charmy’s performance
  • First half
  • Screenplay
  • Background score
  • Shock points
Disappointments
  • Second half, especially the climax
  • Directorial flaws
  • No conviction in the solution of problem
  • Songs
  • Silly comedy
Analysis
After the success of ‘Mantra’, the Tollywood circuit realized that there are audience which welcome such genres. Osho Tulasiram wanted to cash in on that and added an extra dose of shivers.
However, he got lost midway. What started as an excellent plot goes haywire as he is unable to decide whether to term it as a horror flick or a thriller flick. He was successful in scaring the wits out of audience at many places but all this happened during the first half which raised the expectations in the second half. And all that build-up turned out to be hollow in the second half. The climax scenes got dragged which makes the audience squirm and feel bitter about the whole thing.
Overall, there is improvement in the technical values, the plot was wonderful but the execution was poor. At the box office, this might land in the safe zone due to its moderate budget but scoring a hit doesn’t have a great chance.

Bottomline: Good line gone bad with confusion

'Mangala' censored; releases on Mar 2

Censor Board has given ‘A certificate to Charmee’s new thriller - Mangala. Directed by Osho Tulasiram, the film is now hitting the screens on March 2nd. The film’s song -Ice Ice Baby - shot erotically has already caught youth’s fancy. Like Charmee’s ‘Maha Maha ..’ song from Mantra , this song has also became a rage.

Charmy's Bollywood Sketch With Top Director

It has been a while since Charmy is seen on the silver screen and though she has ‘Mangala’ in the making, nothing much is happening. However, inside talk is that she has now set her eyes on Bollywood and may have found the right ticket to get there.

It is heard that lately, Charmy has begun to build strong rapport with Ram Gopal Varma. Apparently, her agenda is to land in Bollywood, as per sources, through RGV. If Ramu decides, it may not be much of a challenge for him. For now, Charmy is doing the main lead in his unique venture ‘Dongala Mutha’.

As it is, Charmy is a Punjabi so Hindi should not be a problem. On the other hand, her saucy item songs and performance in ‘Mantra’ is a good credential. But will her sketch with Ramu work? Can she survive in the big bad Bollywood if she gets a chance? All these are questions to be answered.
