The YSR Congress party on Tuesday pooh-poohed the preaching by Central Bureau of Investigation joint director V V Lakshminarayana to the media not to publish imaginary and speculative stories on the course of investigation into various scandals including the alleged illegal assets case of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma wondered why Lakshminarayana was issuing sermons to a section of the media now, after they had already carried scandalous stories against Jagan and others in various cases.
“Why did he not react when certain dailies were slinging mud at Jagan by carrying all sorts of scurrilous reports in the name of sources in the CBI? Were they not leaked by the CBI joint director himself?” she asked.
Padma said there was a conspiracy behind the CBI official making such a statement now.
“We have serious doubts over his style of functioning. Obviously, he is now trying to curtail the media against writing stories on the CBI probe against Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu,” she said.
