Former Kurnool Mayor and Telugu Desam Party leader Bangi Anantaiah, who is known for attracting the attention of the people and the media by enacting one drama after the other on a daily basis in innovative ways, has done it again.
Whenever Rajya Sabha elections are round the corner, Anantaiah throws his hat into the ring and attacks party president N Chandrababu Naidu for not conceding his demand. On Wednesday, the maverick former mayor was found begging near the NTR statue in Kurnool town, holding a begging bowl in his hand. He told the media that he was registering a symbolic protest in protest against Naidu’s indifferent attitude towards party workers who had sincerely worked for the party.
Anantaiah lamented that he had lost all his properties for the sake of party in the last three decades and was now on roads with a begging bowl. “It is evident that the TDP leaders who trust Naidu will have to end up begging on the streets,” he said.
In the past, too, Anantaiah made similar dramas on the road. He once tried to commit suicide by hanging to NTR’s statue; pulled rickshaw on the streets, sported NTR’s attire and even complained to the police that Naidu was trying to kill him.
