Did Our Tollywood Heroes Lose Charm?

It is often believed that star mania in India is like treating the big heroes like demigods. That has been the strong tradition in the south. However, the question of truth is, have our Tollywood heroes lost the charm. This we say after the fanatic following that Amitabh Bachchan commands even today.

Every Sunday from the past 29 years, his residence Jalsa is surrounded by scores of people who wait for hours. The reason is to catch a glimpse of Amitabh for few minutes. While they feel really blessed to see him, Big B from his end admits he feels overwhelmed with this affection.

Where do we see this type of crowd for a Telugu hero? Are our heroes not having that craze? Of course, there is screaming and shouting when stars are seen during functions but as such nobody is crazy about them anymore. At one time it was there for N T Rama Rao but today, it is only during birthdays there is some noise among the new age stars. Sad but true…
