Soon-to-be-wound-up Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi is disgusted with the goings on in the Congress party in the state in the wake of severe drubbing received in the hands of YSR Congress party in the recent Kadapa by-elections.
In the post-results scenario, Chiranjeevi is wondering what his position would be in the Congress party, as nobody is bothered to take him into confidence while resolving the crisis.
After the election results, the Congress high command had summoned him to New Delhi once and asked him to be prepared to save the party in the event of more Congress MLAs shift their loyalties to Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
At the same time, the party leadership did not give him any commitment on giving him or his party MLAs any position in the party or the government. It had even rejected Chiru’s request on organizing a big rally in Tirupati to formalize the PRP-Congress merger.
During the recent visit of AICC in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad to the state, Chiranjeevi is no way involved in the damage control mission. Azad did not even bother to call Chiranjeevi for a meeting, while he interacted with all the other Congress leaders.
Chiranjeevi is believed to have commented before his friends that he is still being treated as an outsider in the Congress party, which is using him only as a pawn to counter Jagan.
A frustrated Chiranjeevi has stopped calling the Congress party leaders of late and confined himself to his residence, sources say.
